Felipe Bermudez is a licensed architect with more than 20 years of professional experience in architectural design, project management, and construction coordination. Originally from the sunny island of Puerto Rico, he is now based in beautiful Ventura, California, where he practices as an independent architect working on a diverse range of commercial, retail, mixed-use, and residential projects.

Felipe brings a dynamic and creative approach to every project, combining strong technical expertise with a passion for thoughtful design and professional growth. He is highly proficient in industry-leading software including Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office. His extensive background in architectural illustration and visual presentation enhances his ability to clearly communicate design intent to clients, consultants, and stakeholders. Equally comfortable collaborating within multidisciplinary teams or working independently, he consistently embraces new challenges and opportunities for innovation.

At Onyx Creative in Ventura, California, Felipe served as Project Manager and Architect, leading the development of design concepts and construction documents through all project phases. He coordinated consultant teams, monitored drawing progress, prepared presentation materials, and acted as both an internal and external ambassador for the firm. His responsibilities included attending and presenting at design review boards, planning commissions, city council hearings, and community meetings. He organized entitlement project scopes, coordinated with municipal agencies, managed project staffing, prepared fee proposals and contracts, and ensured projects were delivered on schedule and within budget. Felipe also proactively identified project risks, tracked resource allocation, and efficiently addressed change requests from both staff and consultants.

Previously, Felipe worked as a Senior Job Captain at Ware Malcomb in downtown Los Angeles, where he coordinated multiple architectural projects and led document quality assurance efforts. He managed consultant coordination, internal resource planning, and national retail client standards across projects ranging from commercial renovations to ground-up developments.

His earlier experience includes positions at FRCH Design Worldwide and OSI Architecture, where he contributed to corporate and automotive dealership renovations and gained exposure to all major phases of architectural practice, including schematic design, design development, construction documentation, specifications, construction administration, and project coordination.

Felipe also gained valuable public-sector experience at the Puerto Rico Infrastructure Finance Authority, where he served as Technical Coordinator for the Weatherization Program, overseeing bidding processes and construction management for federally funded projects under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Earlier in his career, at Bignell, Watkins, Hasser Architects in Vienna, Virginia, he collaborated on large-scale ground-up retail mixed-use developments across the eastern United States. Working closely with the Design Director, he helped produce compelling visual presentations through hand drawing, painting, digital modeling, and post-production rendering techniques.

Felipe earned his Master of Architecture degree from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, in 2006. He became a LEED AP BD+C accredited professional in 2009 and achieved licensure as a registered architect in Puerto Rico in 2017, followed by licensure in California and Florida in 2020.
